Providence has 25 official neighborhoods including Blackstone, Charles, College Hill, Downtown, Elmhurst, Elmwood, Federal Hill, Fox Point, Hartford, Hope, Lower South Providence, Manton, Mount Hope, Mount Pleasant, Olneyville, Reservoir, Silver Lake, Smith Hill, South Elmwood, Upper South Providence, Valley, Wanskuck, Wayland, West Broadway, and West End.
The East Side neighborhoods include Blackstone, Hope (Summit), Mount Hope, College Hill, and Fox Point. The Southside includes Upper and Lower South Providence, Elmwood, and West End. The North End vaguely refers to the neighborhoods of Wanskuck and Charles. The West Side refers to the West End and Olneyville.
Providence boasts several ethnic neighborhoods such as Federal Hill (Italian), Elmwood (Vietnamese), Lower South Providence (Dominican and Liberian), Fox Point (Cape Verdean) and Smith Hill (a mix of Irish, Bolivian, and Cambodian).
